Trick Eye Museum at RWS Sentosa

Few weeks back, I visited the Alive Museum at Suntec City and had so much fun posing around with my friends. Read post here. This time round, I'm so excited I get to explore the Trick Eye Museum, which is similar to the Alive Museum in terms of concept. Both museums uses art technique that makes 2D paintings comes alive as if they are 3D paintings and visitors are encouraged to step inside the paintings to be part of the masterpiece.  Since I have some experience before hand, I felt that I should make this post a little bit more comprehensive as to what to expect and perhaps some comparisons between the two museums. So just sit back and relax and enjoy the photos. Here I'm in part of a Western masterpieces from French impressionist Georges Seurat's "A Sunday afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte."

The Trick Eye Museum is divided into 6 different theme. Explore the World of Masterpieces, Safari Kingdom, Star of Circus, Dreams of Fairy Tale, Love in Winter and Adventure Discovery.

World of Masterpieces

Feel free to touch those amazing creations, strike your best pose, interact with the characters and become the subject of the paintings.

I refused to squeeze in with the 5 ladies for the pole pose.

Safari Kingdom

Be as adventurous and creative when taking photos with the animals. Not all the animals are as cute as the giant panda or as friendly as the elephant, there's also the giant venomous snake that we need to hide from!

I don't think we can be good actress! We looked too happy being "attacked" by the giant venomous snake!

Star of Circus

In this theme, I get to be a superstar. The stage is mine and I'm the next star of the circus! Be it sitting on Jumbo the elephant's trunk or flying out of the human canon ball. The photos are all so nice.

Enter the fairy tale world and unleash the child in you. Love this theme the most.

Trick Eye VS Alive

Both the Trick Eye Museum and Alive Museum has got their strength in certain areas. Some unique features found only at Alive Museum are the Michael Jackson anti-gravity lean pose, the disco room, the powder room, the interactive artwork of blowing the windmill and the wind blowing hair at the Mermaid artwork. Not much unique experience at Trick Eye Museum but the majority of the artwork here are more vibrant and the lighting is better.

Space Management: I felt that some of the exhibits and paintings at the Trick Eye Museum are too close together and not exclusive enough, especially when I first stepped in. It's easy to bump into other people or get in the way. Alive Museum has better space management and the chances of getting block for a good photo is slimmer.

Another point is at the Alive Museum, once you entered into another sector, you cannot open back the doors to go back to the previous area. So make sure you cover the entire area before proceeding on.

Props used: Both are escaping from the giant venomous snake. While Trick Eye Museum uses the "upside down" photo effect, Alive Museum let you hang onto a rope which is really quite scary.

Lighting: Trick Eye Museum definitely score much better under this criteria. For Alive Museum, spot lights were used as seen in the photo on the right and those that not only create reflection, but also makes areas not under spotlights to be much dimmer. The lighting at Trick Eye Museum is bright at all different angle and even photos taken from smartphone looks presentable.
