[FOOD] 852 Lo Mai Chi 糯米糍 - Famous Authentic Handmade Dessert

852 LO MAI CHI 糯米糍

FAMOUS AUTHENTIC HANDMADE DESSERT ORIGINATED FROM CHEUNG CHAU, HONG KONG HAS MADE ITS WAY TO SINGAPORE

What is Lo Mai Chi

"Lo Mai Chi" or 糯米糍 is a snow-skin mochi with sweet and juicy mango inside. It is a famous dessert found in Cheung Chau, Hong Kong. The outer layer is handmade from glutinous rice while the mango fillings are seasonal from various location.

First and currently only one in Singapore

This special dessert left a deep impression to the writer when she first tasted it in Cheung Chau back in 2012, The writer managed to obtain the special recipe from an old time friend in one of the dessert shop in Cheung Chau in 2015. Finally, the writer decided to start making and selling this famous authentic Lo Mai Chi in Singapore in 2016.

Mission is to provide sweet tooth lovers an authentic Hong Kong dessert

There are currently three different fruit fillings to choose from namely, mango, banana and durian. There's no price increase even if you choose durian as the fillings.

Trying out the Mango and Banana Lo Mai Chi

I love the generous fruit fillings inside. This dessert is rather subjective to consumers as it would largely depends on whether you like the fruit or not. If you are not a durian lover, you wouldn't be able to accept one with durian inside. So, order according to the fruits that will cater to you and your family or friends liking.

Tips to better enjoy eating this yummy dessert

This yummy dessert is best served chilled and should be consume within 1 day as the fruits fillings used are fresh. When I ate this with a spoon, the stick snow skin will tend to stick onto the spoon and is a bit messy. Thus, I recommend to just eat it straight from the wrapper.
